Main Event & After Party (ft. Visit Strandja & Happy Hippy Hostel)
VisitStrandja is organising a NatureAccess event together with Wdwrd and Happy Hippy Hostel in May and September 2012. Below you can read more about what VisitStrandja is offering as part of this event, followed by the details of what our partners are organising. We hope we will be able to welcome you in Strandja in the spring or summer!

Explore Bulgaria's largest nature park on the Black Sea coast
Strandja is Bulgaria's largest nature park offering wild nature, unique culture, and of course the lovely Black Sea, an ideal place to discover and relax in.
We offer two different options for those interested in discovering Strandja:
Option 1 - Inland Strandja and the coast
€325.- per person based on two people sharing, including:
Meeting in Burgas · car rental for the week · accompanied drive to first accommodation address · information pack with maps and walk and route descriptions · excursion on day two (see programme) · 3 nights accommodation in guesthouse in inland Strandja · 4 nights accommodation in family run hotel on the Strandja coast
During this week long holiday you will discover the very best Strandja has to offer. You will make a journey from the wild interior of the park, where you find attractive karts landscapes, via the Veleka river valley to the coast, where the beautiful Veleka river meets the Black Sea. Along the way you will stay in guesthouses where you will receive a warm welcome, and on the coast in a small family run hotel. You will receive walk and route descriptions, and will travel around by rental car.
- Day 1 - Arrive in Burgas where you will receive your rental car. Drive to first accommodation address and discussion of information pack
- Day 2 & 3 - Stay in a guesthouse in Stoilovo, a small village on a ridge with wide views over Strandja. In the information pack you will find route and walk descriptions for a wide range of visits, for example visits to a museum in Malko Turnovo, visits to a viewpoint and a walk to a river valley through an arcaic landscape. On day 2 we will accompany you in the morning on a short walk to the springs of the Mladezhka river that are said to have healing powers. At lunchtime we will visit a restaurant where they serve local products (yoghurt, cheese and meat from water Buffalo's a traditional breed, food not included). In the afternoon we will visit a small village that is an architectural reserve. Here we can visit a traditional Strandja house where you can learn more about how people used to live (and sometimes still live) in the Strandja mountains.
- Day 4 Drive to the coast. Along the way beautiful walk possible in a river valley, along a small waterfall and chapel in the woods. Or visit a quiet beach. Accommodation in small family hotel in Sinemorets.
- Day 5-7 - Stay in Sinemorets. A diverse range of walks and visits possible with the route and walk descriptions in the information pack aloing the Strandja coast, for example visit to a nature reserve with quiet beaches and around the mouth of the Veleka river that meets the sea here.
- Day 1 - Departure from Sinemorets, drop off of rental car in Burgas and return journey to Sofia.
During this week it is also possible to visit Strandja's famous fire-dancing festival (UNESCO listed).
Option 2 - Relax on the Strandja coast
€200.- per person based on two people sharing, including:
Meeting in Burgas · transfer to Sinemorets and first accommodation · information pack with maps and walk and route descriptions · 7 nights accommodation in family run hotel on the Strandja coast.
This relaxing week on the Strandja coast is flexible and can be shorter or longer. Stay in Sinemorets on the Strandja coast with access to nature areas such as the mouth of the Veleka river, a coastal nature reserve and several beaches.
- Day 1 - Meeting in Burgas or Sozopol, transfer to Sinemorets and your accommodation, a small family-run hotel. Receival of the information pack with walk descriptions.
- Day 2-7 - Relax on Strandja's coast. A number of walks possible from Sinemorets, for example to a nature reserve with a number of quiet beaches, and around the mouth of the river Veleka that reaches the Black Sea here.
- Day 8 - Travel back to Burgas and return journey to Sofia.

In which Wdwrd turns travels, honey, accommodations and real estate into an ongoing Art Event in which you are visitor and participant.

Week 1: Main Event @ Sofia to Sozopol Live Theatre
Featuring Minov Atelier Sofia, #netwerkwordthuis, Ocenovlag Monastery, Koprivishtitsa Trees, Atanasov Atelier Gabrovo, Kazanlak Thracian Burial Hills, Zeichare Nature Access Honey Event, Solar & Grapes Land Art Project Elenovo, Dimitrov Atelier Veliko Turnovo.
Wdwrd will offer you a show in which modern art and their practitioners lead him, you and our fellow artists and art lovers from trendy Sofia to sunny Sozopol, during which their is plenty of time to reflect on our own creative processes.
The setting of Wdwrd's Live Theatre is an adventurous country full of магически характери (magic characters). This will undoubtedly lead to several opportunities to change the program on route.
During this week long Main Event we will share costs for food, drinks, car rental, gasoline, entry tickets, etc. This is apart from the entry fee.
This main event can be followed by a week in Strandja as described above, or by an event organised by the Happy Hippy Hostel.
